David and Jenny Forster Rotary Club of Templestowe

David embarked on a military career in 1970 and after graduation in 1973, married Jenny in 1976. Jenny supported him in this career for over 25 years in Australia and overseas. Their two children were part of that journey. Bronwyn is a Primary School teacher and recently married Scott, an Industrial Chemist. Andrew is a Graphic Designer.

Since resigning from full time military service in 1995, David worked as a Career Management Consultant. A few years ago, he took his own advice to achieve more balance in life and left the (paid!) workforce. Since then he has kept himself busy with a range of activities that have become more Rotary intensive in recent years!

David was invited to join the Rotary Club of Templestowe in 1997 and has been President (2005/06) and Director of Fund Raising, Youth, Vocation and International. At District level, he has served on the Foundation and RYLA Committees and is currently Chairman of Youth Exchange. Outside Rotary, he and Jenny enjoy the occasional theatre outing, short trips frequenting B&Bs throughout Australia (particularly if there are wineries and craft shops in the vicinity) and follow a range of sports as interested onlookers. As a Queenslander and aficionado of Rugby Union (the game they play in heaven!), he doesn’t get overly fanatical about the local heathen game but confesses to a “passing interest” in the progress of the Swans and Lions.

Individually, Jenny keeps busy with her craft interests (patchwork, quilting and cross-stitching) while David dabbles in a bit of writing for pleasure. He is also the Chief Scribe and Court Reporter for his Duntroon graduating class. They recently established a charitable trust to fund international and national projects. There will be no conflict of interest with Rotary!

They both look forward to this developing stage of their lives and getting to learn more about both Rotary and the many people who have made the organisation what it is today and will do so long into the future.
